Dana Center Role
Whitney is a senior academic program coordinator for Literacy First, a project of the Center dedicated to ensuring that all students learn to read by the end of second grade, allowing them to realize their full potential. She trains, supports, and directly supervises AmeriCorps members who provide early literacy intervention to students in Austin ISD and Wayside Schools.
Before Joining the Dana Center
Whitney has 10 years of experience in the field of education. Prior to joining Literacy First, Whitney worked as an elementary teacher, a reading interventionist, a district testing and data coordinator, and as an early childhood specialist at the Texas Education Agency. Whitney has spent the majority of her career supporting and coaching teachers in reading instruction and reading intervention.
