Dana Center Role

Javier is a senior administrative program coordinator for the Center. He communicates progress, challenges, and project milestones to project leads and stakeholders on the various Center projects. In addition, he coordinates and communicates with clients and internal staff regarding all logistical details for internal and external events, including in-person and virtual meetings, webinars, conferences, and special events.

Javier also supports the Center by coordinating internal centerwide events and activities to enhance professional relationships and organizational effectiveness and collaboration.

Before Joining the Dana Center

Javier has eight years of experience in the field of education and working with nonprofits in the Austin area. Prior to joining the Center, Javier’s positions included: a second-grade teacher in southeast Austin; a Literacy First reading intervention tutor for K–2 students; a high school STEM facilitator; and a UTeach Hands-On-Science teaching assistant for physics and astronomy courses for novice teachers.

As an educator, Javier supported staff at his campuses by sharing effective teaching practices for integrating math, science, literacy, and social emotional learning (SEL) into morning meeting routines. He also partnered with The University of Texas at Austin College of Education to collaborate with and support student teachers entering the teaching profession.
