Dana Center Role
Madeline serves as the communications coordinator for Literacy First, a program of the Center dedicated to ensuring that all students learn to read by the end of second grade, allowing them to realize their full potential. She manages Literacy First’s communications channels, including the website, the program’s blog, social media, and newsletters. Madeline creates both digital and print content to convey Literacy First’s mission and impact. She also plans, implements, and monitors all marketing efforts while supporting development initiatives by collaborating on fundraising campaigns.
Before Joining the Dana Center
Before joining Literacy First, Madeline gained several years of experience in communications at an Austin-based nonprofit focused on sustainable food systems and access. Before her communications career, Madeline worked in international higher education, combining her passion for cross-cultural exchange and education with her Spanish and Portuguese language skills.
She also served as an AmeriCorps member with Literacy First as a Spanish literacy tutor, an experience that inspired her to pursue a career in public service and education.
