William Crowe Named Dana Center Interim Director of Higher Education Strategy, Policy and Services
Crowe replaces Dr. Martha Ellis, now serving as interim managing director.
William R. Crowe, former president of Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas and former director of the University of Georgia’s Center for Continuing Education, has been named the interim director of higher education strategy, policy and services at the Charles A. Dana Center. Crowe replaces Dr. Martha Ellis in this position following Ellis’ recent transition to the Dana Center’s interim managing director.
Prior to joining the Dana Center in his new role, Crowe spent nearly three years serving as a regional coordinator and project lead supporting the Center’s work in the Tackling Transfer and Texas Transfer Alliance initiatives. This work has focused on improving opportunities for students to successfully transfer between the state’s colleges and universities with minimal loss of course credits.
Crowe served from 1992 to 2007 as president of Tyler Junior College (TJC). Under his leadership, TJC moved from a period of financial crisis to substantial annual budget surpluses and increases in endowment funding. He also oversaw the development of new academic programs designed to better meet the needs of local employers and workforce leaders.
“Bill’s incredibly strong background in innovative higher ed leadership at both community colleges and universities, along with his focus on building connections between the higher ed sector and other critical areas such as workforce development, means he is very well suited to guide our efforts in higher education,” said Ellis. “We are very pleased and excited to have him join the Dana Center.”
Crowe also served as interim chancellor at Louisiana State University Eunice.
Crowe earned bachelor of business administration and doctorate degrees at The University of Texas at Austin, and a master of business administration degree at The University of Texas at Tyler.
Please join the Dana Center in welcoming Dr. Bill Crowe and congratulating him on his new role.
